A computer model has been developed to estimate the loading of the end wall of an open car
carried by a bulk cargo. Granular material is represented by the Drucker-Prager model. The
numerical results of the loading of the end wall in the collision of cars for a wide range of
changes in the cohesive properties of the granular material and its volume in the body are obtained.
A set of studies was conducted to determine the technical condition of passenger wagon
cars after long-term operation in order to determine the possibility of extending their service life.
The computer model for calculation of strength of a composite wheel of a diesel locomotive of series CHME3 is developed. The model considers thermal interference fit of tyre with wheel's centre.
The estimation of strength of interference fit for different values of coefficient of friction is executed.
