Part-time studies at the University are provided from the date of its establishment in 1968. In the beginning it was an evening form of education. In 1987 the first enrollment of correspondence students was conducted, and in 1993 first graduation in the specialities «Electric Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises», «Manufacturing Engineering», «Metal Cutting Tools and Cutters», «Economy and Management in Machine Building» took place.

In 1994 the Evening Faculty was renamed a Correspondence Faculty and from that time training at the Faculty has been provided by correspondence only.

Correspondence Faculty is the largest at the University. About 5000 students study at the Faculty at present.

10 677 specialists graduated from the Faculty for the period from 1973 to 2010. Period of studying based on general high education in all engineering specialities is 5 years 10 months and 5 years in economic specialities. In a number of specialities training is provided during a reduced period of 4 years 5 months and 4 years in a respective speciality based on specialized high education. Students can be provided with second higher education at the Faculty.
